Using Pianophonic with cv...not possible?

Anybody here using Pianophonic with cv rather than MIDI? Mine works fine with MIDI, but if I give it a 1v/oct cv pitch (and gate) it only gives me a dissonant drone unless I make the input pitch very very low, at which point it's basically unusable.

What am I missing here?

I get a similar problem with the Poly Cinematic. It works fine with midi but CV is super buggy.

Piano XL not working

Hello,

I've downloaded the Piano XL pack and it won't make a sound on the module? I have tried copying over the settings file off the original SD card as well but I still get no sounds. All is still fine with the original card however.

Help, and thanks, this is the third Knobula module I have bought.

Hi Beau,

Don’t copy the settings file, just delete it and pianophonic will create a fresh one. We’ve found some cards don’t load all the piano xl sounds very well but we have a firmware update due in the next few weeks that should fix this. In the meantime try using a different sd card for piano xl.

Distortion in presets

I just got a Pianophonic. I am experiencing sound problems with some of the presets.

On the factory SDCard set I am getting distortion and clicking on presets 2, 4, 6, 7 and 8. This is most noticeable in the range of the Attack control between 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock. There is sometimes a clicking that occurs during the transition between the hammer and wavetable sections.

I downloaded the Piano_XL set of presets and put them on a brand new high-quality Sandisk SDCard and they all play nicely except #12 and 13 Felt Piano which are clearly distorted.

I am driving the module from MIDI. And I have found no settings that eliminate the distortion or clicking.

Also sometimes presets fail to load when I select them with the numbered Part Selector. I just get rapid flashing of the Trigger button and no sound. Sometimes selecting another preset solves…

Regarding distortion, the newer 'smooth' factory library is distortion free. The issue arises from the wavetable 'sampled' sounds having low frequency artifacts embedded in them. Depending on the settings, particularly high Morph Speed and Overdrive, crackling can be heard as Pianophonic jumps between waveforms that contain differing DC offsets. I hope that helps.

How to assign cv in back to chord select?

Apologies if I'm missing something obvious here. I haven't been able to find a clear answer to the following question:

It is great being able to assign cv in to different parameters wiggling the corresponding knobs. But it is not entirely clear to me how to revert the changes and assign the cv in back to chord selection. The manual doesn't seem to specify this either. Can someone please help?

Thanks!

To assign back to default press the Voice mode button instead of wiggling a knob. I’ll add it to the manual.
