Trying to understand recording chords to memory

Could someone help me understand the procedure for selecting chord memory slots and recording chords? The relevant line in the manual states:

Connect CV to the Osc Freq input and you can play your chord or single note or 8 note octave stack using a CV sequencer or keyboard, so you could think of your Poly Cinematic like a regular monophonic oscillator module with midi addressable chords. Connect a CV into the Chord Select input and you can choose different memory slots to record chords into, 8 in total. It can be quite tricky to manage but once you get it, its a fun compositional tool that just keeps on giving. If you like what you've programmed into the chord memory, and you've remembered not to play any Midi over them, you can save them to persistent memory by holding down Shift and Trigger together and despite what happens later,…

Help, Trying to connect Arturia microfreak to Poly Cinematic via midi/CV

Trying to connect Arturia Microfreak to Poly Cinematic via male to male type A midi trs cable. Doesn't work.

Also won't respond to CV/Gate from Arturia microfreak via standard cables. It does respond to Midi from Arturia Keystep 37 via the included cable and CV/Gate from Arturia Keystep 37 and any other source. What am I missing here? Thanks.

Losing MIDI on startup again

Updated my in-rack sequencers firmware, now its seemingly a 50/50 chance that if I boot my rack with the midi cable in Poly Cinematic it refuses to respond to MIDI until rebooted with no cable. Caught me out in a live performance last week.

Can't expect Poly Cinematic firmware to deal with whatever hundreds of different sequencers might or might not spit out when they boot up, maybe PolyC firmware could delay opening the MIDI port for 5-10 seconds after power-on to allow any MIDI "noise" to conclude first?

I could try getting a MIDI monitor running to see what is being generated on startup if that helps, my other MIDI modules are not impacted.
