Received my Monumatic today. I love it. It's truly a quantum leap over the Poly Cinematic (which I loved dearly until today). Fantastic job on the sound engine. Love (LOVE!) that I can drive it easily with my 1V/Oct sequencers.
But.... I despise the panel graphics. The panel colors on my module appear to be much darker than what they appear to be in the promo photos and the black lettering on those backgrounds is almost unreadable. I don't have the greatest eyesight in the world, but I didn't have any issues reading the panel on the Poly Cinematic. Good thing that many of the controls are similar to the PC so there's some muscle memory that overcomes the legibility issues of the panel. The Monumatic screams for an alternative panel that is more user friendly. Also I'm not a fan of those teeny tiny little black switches. Not easy to access.
One question with respect to Osc Mode 4 - PWM. Am I correct in thinking that if you want to "modulate" the pitch width, you need to assign the Detune control to one of the programmable CV inputs and connect that input to a modulation source? Is there any other way (besides hand wriggling the Detune knob) to modulate the PW?
Apart from the minor panel irritations, let me re-iterate that I love the sound engine, the programmable CV controls, and the enhanced 1V/Oct Control. I have not been through all of the modes yet because I got "stuck" playing with the CZ mode, which I think is fantastic (maybe becuase I owned a CZ-101 40 years ago).
LOL. The day after I receive mine I get a note from my retailer saying that they now have a version with a "dark mode" panel (all white lettering, black panel) in stock. So I guess I could return mine and exchange it for other panel version. Not sure I want to spend two weeks without the module in the meantime.
