I can't seem to update the firmware. I'm following the instructions to the letter. I even installed the WinUSB drive with the Zadig app (and rebooted for good measure). I reset the module, go to that page, select the firmware file, and the 'Program' button always remains greyed out (see photo).
[ EDIT: One thing I should add: I click Connect, then I see "DFU in FS mode - Paired." I click 'connect' in that little pop-up window, and there's no indication that it actually connected. I can then re-click the yellow "Connect" button and repeat the same exact thing. ]
Windows 10 / Chrome 97.0.4692.71
I disabled all security features of the browser for "electro-smith.github.io"
I plugged the USB cable directly into one of the ports on the PC (rather than through a hub)
Any suggestions? Thanks!
After an hour of persistence, I finally got the firmware to load.
In my case, I wonder if the micro-USB connector on the unit was a little wonky, because it took me two different cables and trying multiple USB ports on my Mac (on the Mini and a powered hub) to get it connected.
I realized that when you see the red LED light up, keep it in that position! The LED on mine flashed red so I thought that meant it was connected. Nope. It needs to be solid red. Once I was able to wiggle the cable into place so the LED was a solid red, everything else fell into place.
Hope this helps someone out there!
Cheers

I am running windows 11 v22h2 (up-to-date) on a Surface Pro 6. My Polycinematic in boot mode is not recognized by Daisy web programmer independent of usb cable. Following the Knobula firmware update pdf, I went down the suggested Zadig driver installer rabbit hole. Zadig not recognize the device either, and the device listing log is shown below. Only °bluetooth and wireless lan composite device" and "surface type cover" are found, as is the case with Daisy web programmer. I have not been able to successfully install USB software on the unit, either. Please advise. Thanks!
Hey Gang, I had a similar issue on OSX - ‘DFU in FS‘ not showing. I was lucky enough to have a variety of usb cables and adapters to try.
I finally got it to work using the usb-a to usb-c cable that came with the OXI ONE and a tiny usb-c to Micro USB adapter on one end, and a usb-a to usb-c adapter on the other end to my laptop. it updated without any other issues.
not sure I’m helping here, but there is hope! All I can say is: It seems super fussy about the type of cable we use.
I am doing these steps but my computer doesn’t see the unit either. Using Chrome but nothing.
You should definitely see the Poly Cinematic when using a Mac. Make sure you are using Chrome and enter the system bootloader mode by holding the BOOT button down, and then pressing, and releasing the RESET button on the Daisy board at the back of the Poly Cinematic.
I can't even get "DFU in Fs mode" to come up. I have tried multiple usc cables and both my MAC and laptop, neither recognize the Poly cinematic? I use an octatrack so this update would be very helpful to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I recently got a new job and a Microsoft Surface laptop to go with it. So, I tried updating the firmware from the laptop. When I connected the module to the laptop, it popped up the notification in the lower right that it was setting up, "DFU in FS mode." I then went to Chrome, went to the update page and clicked Connect, but it was nowhere to be found in the list that popped up. I tried it a number of times after rebooting the module, disconnecting/reconnecting, hard refreshing the page in the browser, and so on. Always the same disappointing result. I guess until I find a friend with a Mac, I will be content with the factory firmware.
Sorry to hear that the problem still persists. For the pc check that a) you have installed the latest windows update and b) look at the device manager and check if the module appears there with the correct driver?
Just following up. I got a brand new USB cable and just tried again. Same result. I see "DFU in FS mode" but the Connect button never changes to "Disconnect." Unfortunately I don't have another computer to try it on.
Thanks for the feedback. I noticed the "Connect" button at the top of the page changes to "Disconnect" after you connected it. Mine never did that. I don't think my PC even knows it's there. I will search for a different USB cable to try on it!
Hi Rachel,
It looks like you're doing everything right, the Poly Cinematic is showing up as DFU in FS mode which means it is seeing the Daisy in boot mode but after that I'm not sure what is happening. Windows is apparently a bit fussier than OsX at this procedure, but again you have followed the Zadig workaround instructions. I've made a short video of what a successful session looks like which may help you to diagnose, its on a Mac since I'm out of the office at the moment but I can take a look tomorrow. Good luck in the meantime.
