Preset Query

Hello, just ordered one of these beauties, I also own the poly. Just curious about the chords already saved into the banks? How many of these banks are already loaded etc? Can someone please shed some light on this?

Cheers Wayne

Issues with changing buttons via cv & gate

Hey,

Been loving my CP so far, but I'm running into an issue regarding the triggering and changing of chords, and wonder if you can suggest a work-around or fix.

I can't seem to get the cv buttons change to work at the same time as the trigger/gate input. I've tried with two of my sequencers. The module seems to recognize the gate before the cv-button change, and so it triggers the 'wrong' chord, which is making it difficult to arrange things.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

This is a known problem with cv gate control everywhere. The problem is that the CV is often changing drastically at the point where the gate signal arrives. This is normal and isn’t a bug in chord Pilot, but it isn’t noticeable with traditional CV oscillator control because the oscillator is updating its frequency all the time and, unless you have portamento, the CV lag is imperceptible to the ear. However with chord control the chord cannot be updated once it’s started, and we cannot waist valuable milliseconds waiting for the cv to settle on a final value, so there is a certain unpredictability in your use case. As a workaround for reliable chord triggering you will need to send the cv slightly before the gate, or delay the gate. Another option is to use separate sequences for the cv and gate.

Sequencing chords with Chord Pilot/Poly Cinematic

I'm just trying to figure out the best way to sequence chords from a MIDI sequencer to play through the CP/PC combo. ...As I understand it, the key of Poly Cinematic controls the key of the chord that is played? So as I sequence different notes through Chord Pilot, it takes the active chord settings, passes these to Poly Cinematic along with the incoming MIDI note and I hear CP's active chord in the key of the input pitch? This seems to be what I'm hearing at least. So far so good. ...But how about changing to a different chord setup at the same time as changing pitch? Logically, to achieve that I want to be sending CV to the Buttons input as that changes Preset/Mode on Chord Pilot. However this also triggers the chord to play which conflicts with the notion of sending in MIDI to modify the pitch…

if you use traditional trig and cv sources to control the 'trigger' 'cv chord change' and 'volt/octave' this shouldn't be an issue. obviously it will take a decent sized patch to get this done, but it works. you just have to think of the volt/oct changes on the poly cinematic as independent from the cv input chord change on the chord pilot. have your quantized trigger come into the the volt/oct on the PC at the same time you send a separate cv modulation change to the CP to get a new saved chord. maybe time the chord change to just before the note trig to be precise.
